মাটিঃ

এটির নাম থেকে বোঝা যায় যে, ডেজার্ট রোজ গাছটি প্রাকৃতিকভাবে শুষ্ক, মরুভূমির মতো পরিস্থিতিতে অভ্যস্ত, অর্থাৎ ভালোভাবে নিষ্কাশিত বালুকাময় বা নুড়িযুক্ত ক্যাকটাস মাটি।

 

জলঃ

বছরের বিভিন্ন সময় এবং তাপমাত্রার উপর নির্ভর করে ডেজার্ট রোজ গাছের জলের প্রয়োজনীয়তা পরিবর্তিত হয়। এটির বৃদ্ধির মৌসুমে , এটির মাটি আর্দ্র রাখুন তবে কখনই অত্যন্ত স্রবণযোগ্য করবেন না। পর্যায়ক্রমে মাটি পরীক্ষা করুন এবং জল দেওয়ার আগে এটি সম্পূর্ণ শুকিয়ে যেতে দিন।

 

তাপমাত্রা এবং আর্দ্রতাঃ

উদ্ভিদকে সর্বদা উষ্ণ তাপমাত্রায় রাখুন-৫০ ডিগ্রি ফারেনহাইটের চেয়ে বেশি দীর্ঘস্থায়ী তাপমাত্রার সংস্পর্শে এলে এটি দ্রুত মারা যায়। এটি ৬৫-এবং ৯০-ডিগ্রি ফারেনহাইটের মধ্যে তাপমাত্রায় সবচেয়ে ভাল বৃদ্ধি পায়।

ডেজার্ট রোজের প্রকারভেদ:

অ্যাডেনিয়ামের অনেক প্রজাতি আছে। তবে, সবচেয়ে সাধারণ এবং সহজে পাওয়া যায় অ্যাডেনিয়াম ওবেসাম। অন্যান্য উপপ্রজাতি হলো: অ্যাডেনিয়াম ওবেসাম সাবস্প। সোয়াজিকাম: এটি ‘গ্রীষ্ম ইম্পালা লিলি’ নামেও পরিচিত। এটি একটি বামন প্রজাতি যা সাধারণত ২ ফুটের বড় হয় না; এটি সোয়াজিল্যান্ড এবং দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার মূলনিবাসী। আকর্ষণীয় ফুলগুলি্র রং গোলাপি থেকে গাড় লাল ধরনের হয়।

 

কীভাবে বীজ থেকে ডেজার্ট রোজ চাষ করা যায়ঃ

• পার্লাইটের সঙ্গে ভালভাবে নিষ্কাশিত পটিং মিশ্রণ নিন অথবা বালি ও মাটির মিশ্রণ ব্যবহার করুন। বীজগুলিকে পুনরায় হাইড্রেট করার জন্য কয়েক ঘন্টা আগে বা এক দিন পর্যন্ত ভিজিয়ে রাখতে পারেন।
• ক্রমবর্ধমান মাধ্যমের উপর প্রতি ২ ইঞ্চিতে একটি করে বীজ রাখুন। মাটির একটি পাতলা স্তর দিয়ে হালকাভাবে ঢেকে দিন
• ভালোভাবে জল দিন এবং গাছগুলিকে উষ্ণ স্থানে রাখুন। মাটি শুকিয়ে যেতে শুরু করলেই কেবল জল দিন।
• একবার চারা অঙ্কুরিত হলে, যা সাধারণত এক সপ্তাহ থেকে ১০ দিনের মধ্যে হয়, পাত্রটি একটি রৌদ্রোজ্জ্বল স্থানে সরিয়ে নিন।

Here are the main requirements for growing desert rose:

• Desert rose needs careful water management and lots of sunlight.
• The plant prefers consistently warm temperatures
• Likes well-draining, sandy soil

Light:

The desert rose thrives in a full sun environment. Choose a spot where it can be grown successfully outdoors, the best place to plant the desert rose is in a spot that is not shaded by taller plants but has some protection from high-noon sun, which can scorch the plant’s leaves.

Soil:

As its name implies, the desert rose plant is acclimated to naturally dry, desert-like conditions, meaning well-draining sandy or gravelly cactus soil.

Water:

The desert rose plant has varying water requirements depending on the time of year and temperature. During its growing season, keep its soil moist but never saturated. Check on the soil periodically and allow it to dry out completely before watering.

Temperature and Humidity:

Keep your plant in warm temperatures at all times—it will die quickly if exposed to prolonged temperatures cooler than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It thrives best at temperatures between 65- and 90-degrees Fahrenheit.

Types of Desert Rose:

There are many species of Adenium. However, the most common and easiest to find is Adenium obesum. Some other subspecies include: Adenium obesum subsp. swazicum: also known by its common name ‘summer impala lily’. This is a dwarf species that usually doesn’t get larger than 2 feet; it is native to Swaziland and South Africa. Showy flowers are pink to deep reddish-pink.

How to Grow Desert Rose from Seed:

• Get a well-draining potting mix with perlite or use a sand and soil mix. You can soak the seeds in advance for several hours or up to a day to rehydrate them.
• Place one seed every 2 inches onto the growing medium. Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil mix.
• Water thoroughly and keep the plants in a warm location. Only water the soil once it begins to dry out.
• Once seedlings sprout, which is usually in a week to 10 days, move the container to a sunny spot.
