ব্রুনাই কিং (Brunei King) হলো চার থেকে সাড়ে চার কেজি ওজনের আম যা আষাঢ়ের পরে শ্রাবণ মাসের শেষ দিকে গিয়ে পাকে। অধিক ওজনের পাশাপাশি এটি খেতে সুস্বাদু বিধায় আমাদের দেশে আমটি বেশ জনপ্রিয়তা পেয়েছে।

জানা যায়, ২০১১ সালে মাগুরা জেলার শালিখা উপজেলার শতখালি গ্রামের বাসিন্দা জনাব আতিয়ার মোল্লা তার ভাগ্নের মাধ্যমে ব্রুনাই রাজপরিবার থেকে “ব্রুনাই কিং(Brunei King)” নামের বিশাল আকৃতির এই আমের জাতটি সংগ্রহ করেন। আতিয়ার মোল্লার ভাগ্নে ব্রুনাই রাজ পরিবারে বাগান পরিচর্যার কাজে নিয়োজিত ছিলেন বলে জানা যায়। বর্তমানে কলমের মাধ্যমে এই ব্রুনাই কিং (Brunei King) জাতের আম গাছের চারা অনেকেই বাণিজ্যিকভাবে উৎপাদন করছে।

 

ব্রুনাই কিং (Brunei King) জাতের আমের বৈশিষ্ট্যঃ

১। এ জাতের আম গাছের উচ্চতা ৮-১০ ফুট।

২। বৈশাখ-আষাঢ় মাসের মধ্যে এ জাতের চারা রোপণ করতে হয়।

৩। চারা রোপণের ২ বছরের মধ্যেই আম ধরে।

৪। শ্রাবণের শেষদিকে আম পাকে।

৫। প্রতিটি আমের ওজন সাড়ে ৩ থেকে সাড়ে ৪ কেজি।

৬। প্রতিটি আম আঁশমুক্ত, মিষ্টি ও সুস্বাদু।

৭। দেখতে অনেকটা কলার মতো লম্বা হয়ে থাকে।

৮। কাঁচা আম খেতে কিছুটা টক, মিষ্টি স্বাদ।

৯। কাঁচা আমের রং হয়ে থাকে কালচে সবুজ।

১০। পাকা আমের স্বাদ অনেকটা ফজলি আমের মতো।

১১। আমের আঁটি (বিচি) একদম ছোট।

১২। মাতৃগাছে প্রতিবছর ২০-৩০টি পর্যন্ত আম হয়ে থাকে।

The seedlings of the Brunei King Mango Tree

The Brunei King mango, weighing between four to four and a half kilograms, ripens towards the end of the month of Shravan, following Ashadh. Due to its substantial weight and delightful taste, this mango variety has gained considerable popularity in our country.

It is known that in 2011, Atiar Molla, a resident of Shatkhali village in Magura district, obtained this variety, named “Brunei King,” through his connections with the Brunei royal family. Atiar Molla was employed in garden maintenance for the Brunei royal family. Currently, many nurseries are commercially producing seedlings of the Brunei King mango tree variety through grafting.

 

Characteristics of the Brunei King Mango:

1. The height of the mango tree of this variety is 8-10 feet.
2. Planting of seedlings of this variety is done between the months of Baishakh and Ashar.
3. The mango tree bears fruit within 2 years of planting.
4. The mangoes ripen towards the end of Shravan.
5. Each mango weighs approximately 3 to 4 kilograms.
6. Each mango is free from fibers, sweet, and delicious.
7. They appear somewhat elongated, resembling bananas.
8. Raw mangoes have a slightly sour taste, while ripe mangoes have a taste somewhat like Fozli mangoes.
9. Raw mangoes have a dark green color.
10. The taste of ripe mangoes is somewhat similar to Fozli mangoes.
11. The seed (kernel) of the mango is very small.
12. Each mother tree bears up to 20-30 mangoes annually.
