বারি-১১ জাতের আমঃ
আম কম বেশি সবারই পছন্দের একটি ফল। কিন্ত পছন্দের এই ফলটি যখন আমাদের দেশে সারা বছরই পাওয়া যাবে তখন কতই না ভালো হবে আম প্রেমিক মানুষের জন্য। টসটসে রসে ভরা আম আসলে তিনবার খাওয়া হয়ে যায়। প্রথমত রঙ দেখেই একবার ঢোক গিলতে হয়। ঘ্রাণেই একবার পেট ভরে। আরেকবার মুখে পুরে।বাংলাদেশ কৃষি গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (বারি) এমনি একটি আমের জাত উদ্ভাবন করেছে যা সারা বছর ফল দিবে। আমের এই জাতটি হলো বারি আম -১১।
বারি আম-১১ এর বৈশিষ্ট্যঃ
১। বারি আম ১১ বারোমাসি জাতের আম অর্থাৎ সারা বছরই ফল দিয়ে থাকে।
২। বছরে তিনবার ফল প্রদান করে থাকে। নভেম্বর, ফেব্রুয়ারি ও মে মাসে গাছে মুকুল আসে এবং মার্চ-এপ্রিল, মে-জুন এবং জুলাই-আগস্ট মাসে ফল আহরণের উপযোগী হয়।
৩। ফল লম্বাটে ( লম্বায় ১১.৩ সেমি ) এবং প্রতিটি আমের গড় ওজন ৩০০-৩৫০ গ্রাম।
৪। কাঁচা আমের ত্বক হালকা সবুজ। আর পাকলে ত্বক হয় হলুদাভ সুবজ।
৫। আম গাছটির উচ্চতা ৬-৭ ফুট। গাছটির কোনো অংশে মুকুল, কিছু অংশে আমের গুটি, কিছু অংশে কাঁচা আম, আবার কোথাও পাকা আম। একটি গাছেই ফুটে উঠে পুরো আমের ‘জীবনচক্র’।
৬। এটি খেতে সুস্বাদু, তবে একটু আঁশ আছে। ফলের শাঁস গাঢ় হলুদ বর্ণের।
৭। এই জাতের ৪-৫ বছর বয়সী গাছ থেকে প্রতিবার ৬০-৭০টি আম আহরণ করা যায়। এছাড়াও এই জাতের একটি গাছে বছরে প্রায় ৫০ কেজি পর্যন্ত আম হয়ে থাকে।
৮। বারি আম – ১১ এর এক বছর বয়সী গাছে আমের মুকুল আসে।
৯। আম গাছের একটি থোকার মধ্যে ৫-৬ টি আম থাকে।
১০। আমের উচ্চ ফলনশীল এই জাতটি বাংলাদেশের সব এলাকায় চাষ উপযোগী।
১১। আমের এই জাতটি সম্পূর্ণ দেশীয় আম। হাইব্রিড নয়। এটি প্রাকৃতিকভাবে সংকরায়ণের ফলে সৃষ্ট।
চাষের উপযুক্ত জমিঃ
মাঝারী উঁচু জমি এবং দোআঁশ মাটি বারি আম -১১ চাষের জন্য উপযোগী।
বংশবিস্তারঃ
বীজের বা কলমের মাধ্যমে বংশবিস্তার করা যায়। বীজ থেকে চারা উৎপাদন করলে মাতৃগাছের মতো ফল পাওয়া যায় না। তাই কলমের মাধ্যমেই এই জাতের আমের চারা উৎপাদন ও বংশবিস্তার করা উত্তম। এক্ষেত্রে জ্যৈষ্ঠ-আষাঢ় / ভাদ্র –আশ্বিন (মে-জুন/ আগস্ট-সেপ্টেম্বর) করাই উত্তম।
আম পাকার সময়ঃ
মে মাস আমের মৌসুম হওয়ায় এ মাসে আমের ফলন বেশি হয়। দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ে আগস্ট মাসে, তৃতীয় পর্যায়ে নভেম্বর এবং চতুর্থ পর্যায়ে ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসে আম পাকবে।
ফলনঃ
বারি আম -১১ এর ফলন ২২,০০০ কেজি/হেক্টর বা ২২ টন/ হেক্টর। এছাড়াও প্রতি শতকে ৮০-৯০ কেজি আমের ফলন হয়ে থাকে।

বারি আম -১১ বা বারোমাসি আমের এই জাতটি এখন বাংলাদেশের সব উদ্যানতত্ব গবেষণা কেন্দ্রেই চাষ হচ্ছে। আমের এই জাতটি দেশের আনাচে-কানাচে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য দেশের সকল আঞ্চলিক উদ্যানতত্ব কেন্দ্রের বৈজ্ঞানিক কর্মকর্তাগণ কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি আমাদের প্রতিষ্ঠান ষড়ঋতু ডট কম হতে পারে বারি আম-১১ জাতের গাছের চারা সূলভ মুল্যে প্রাপ্তির জন্য বিশ্বস্থ্য এবং আদর্শ মাধ্যম।

বারি আম-১১ থেকে সারা বছর ফুল,ফল ও পাকা আম পাওয়া যায। বিধায় ভবিষ্যতে এই জাতের আমের চাষ আরও বাড়বে বলেই ধরে নেওয়া হচ্ছে। এছাড়া বাসা বাড়ির ছাদেও বারি আম-১১ চাষ করা সম্ভব। যা ইদানীং বেশ জনপ্রিয় হচ্ছে।

Bari-11 Mango:
Mango is everyone’s favorite fruit, whether in small or large quantities. But when this beloved fruit is available throughout the year in our country, it becomes even more delightful for mango lovers. A ripe, juicy mango from Bari-11 is often eaten three times over.
At first sight, its color invites one to take a bite. With the first bite, satisfaction fills the stomach, and with another, the mouth is filled. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has developed a mango variety that bears fruit throughout the year. This variety of mango is called Bari-11.
Characteristics of Bari Mango-11:
- Bari Mango-11 is a twelve-month variety mango, meaning it produces fruit throughout the year.
- It bears fruit three times a year: in November, February, and May, with blossoms appearing in March-April, May-June, and July-August, respectively.
- The fruit is elongated (11.3 cm in length) with an average weight of 300-350 grams per mango.
- The skin of unripe mangoes is light green, while ripe mangoes have a golden-green skin.
- The height of the mango tree is 6-7 feet. The tree exhibits various stages of mango growth on different parts: buds, some parts with mango clusters, some with raw mangoes, and somewhere ripe mangoes. The entire lifecycle of the mango can be seen on a single tree.
- It is delicious to taste but slightly acidic. The pulp of the fruit is dense and yellow.
- A mature tree of this variety can yield 60-70 mangoes per harvest, with each tree yielding up to approximately 50 kilograms of mangoes per year.
- Mango blossoms appear on Bari Aam-11 trees when they are one year old.
- Each branch of the mango tree bears 5-6 mangoes.
- This high-yielding variety is suitable for cultivation in all regions of Bangladesh.
- This mango variety is entirely indigenous, not hybrid. It is the result of natural cross-pollination.
Suitable Land for Cultivation:
Medium height land with loamy soil is suitable for cultivating Bari Aam-11.
Propagation:
Propagation can be done through seeds or stem cuttings. Seed propagation does not yield fruits like the mother tree, so it is preferable to propagate and breed this mango variety through stem cuttings. In this case, the period from Jestha to Ashar (May-June/August-September) is ideal.
Fruiting Season:
The mango season begins in May, with peak fruiting occurring during this month. In the second phase, fruits ripen in August, followed by November in the third phase, and finally in February in the fourth phase.
Yield:
The yield of Bari Aam-11 is 22,000 kilograms per hectare or 22 tons per hectare. Additionally, the yield of mangoes per hundred trees ranges from 80-90 kilograms.
Origin:
The Bari Aam-11, or Baromasi mango, is currently being adopted in all horticulture research centers in Bangladesh. Scientists at these regional horticultural centers are working to spread this variety of mango throughout the country.
