তোতাপুরী (ম্যাট্রাস) আমের পরিচিতি ও বৈশিষ্ট্য সমূহঃ

তোতাপুরী আমের আকার দুই ধরনের। ছোট এবং বড়। তোতাপুরী (ম্যাট্রাস) সব সময় ছোট হয়ে থাকে। ছোট আকৃতির এক একটি তোতাপুরী আমের গড় ওজন ২০০ গ্রাম পর্যন্ত হয়। বড় আকৃতির তোতাপুরী আমের ওজন ৩০০ থেকে ৩৫০ গ্রাম পর্যন্ত হয়ে থাকে। আমটির বোঁটা শক্ত, ত্বক মসৃণ। পাকলে বোঁটার আশেপাশের অংশ জুড়ে লাল এবং ত্বকের সামান্য অন্যান্য অংশ হলুদ বর্ণ ধারণ করে। আমটির গড়নে একটি বিশেষ বৈশিষ্ট্য রয়েছে। ফলটির বোঁটার দিকটা এবং নিম্নাংশ ছুঁচালো। পেটের এবং পিঠের অংশ বেশ মোটা এবং স্ফীত। আমের খোসা পাতলা, শাঁস কমলাভ। ফলটি সুগন্ধযুক্ত, রসালো, সুমিষ্ট এবং সুস্বাদু। আমের আঁটিতে কোন আঁশ নেই। লম্বা এবং সামান্য মোটা। দুধে ভাতে খেতে অত্যন্ত মজাদার। এই জাতের আম বাংলাদেশের রাজশাহী জেলার চারঘাট এবং বাঘা এলাকায় বেশী জন্মে।এছাড়া রাজশাহীর পবা, বোয়ালিয়া, রাজপাড়া, শাহমখদুম, পুঠিয়া থানা এলাকায় এবং চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ জেলাতেও আমটির চাষ হয়ে থাকে। আমটি আমাদের দেশে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে সফল। ঢাকা, চট্রগ্রাম, সিলেট অঞ্চলেও ইদানীং এই আমটির চাষ শুরু হয়েছে। এই আমটি চাহিদার তুলনায় উৎপাদন অনেক কম। ফলে বাজারে বিক্রি করে ভাল দাম পাওয়া যায়। তোতাপুরী আমের আদি নিবাস ভারতের তামিলনাড়ু এলাকায়। কর্নাটকে এর নাম বাঙ্গালোরা। ভারতের এই এলাকা দুটির তোতাপুরী আম আকারে বেশ বড় হয়।

 

আর্থিক সম্ভাবনাঃ

বাংলাদেশের বাজারে তোতাপুরী আমের রয়েছে ব্যাপক চাহিদা। সেই অনুযায়ী যোগান একদম কম। ফলে দাম বেশী। অন্যদিকে ক্রেতা আকর্ষণের দিক থেকেও এই জাতের আম কয়েক ধাপ এগিয়ে। তাই আম চাষ করে অল্প সময়ে আর্থিকভাবে লাভবান হতে তোতাপুরী আমের বিকল্প হতে পারে শুধুই তোতাপুরী।

Introduction and Characteristics of Totapuri (Matras) Mango:

Totapuri mangoes come in two sizes: small and large. The Totapuri (Matras) variety always remains small in size. The average weight of a small Totapuri mango is up to 200 grams, while the large ones weigh between 300 to 350 grams. The fruit has a firm texture, smooth skin, and a slightly reddish color around the stem when ripe, with other parts of the skin being yellow. One notable feature of this mango is its pointed end and slender shape. The belly and backside of the fruit are thick and fleshy. The skin of the mango is thin and smooth. The fruit is fragrant, juicy, sweet, and delicious. There is no fiber in the pulp, and it is long and slightly thick. It tastes extremely delicious with rice pudding. This variety of mango is predominantly grown in the Rajshahi district of Bangladesh, particularly in areas like Char Ghat and Bagha, as well as in Paba, Boalia, Rajpara, Shahmokhdum, and Putiya Upazilas. Totapuri mango cultivation is also successful in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet regions.

Economic Prospects:

There is extensive demand for Totapuri mangoes in the Bangladeshi market, but the supply is quite limited, leading to higher prices. However, from the perspective of attracting buyers, this variety of mango has taken several steps forward. Therefore, Totapuri mango cultivation could potentially be the only profitable option in the near future.
