চিয়াং মাই আমের বৈশিষ্ট্যঃ

১। চিয়াং মাই আম থাইল্যান্ড থেকে আসা আমাদের দেশে সম্পূর্ণভাবে নতুন জাতের একটি আম।

২। চিয়াং মাই আম গাছের পাতাগুলো দেখতে অনেক বড়। এক একটি পাতা দেখতে প্রায় এক ফুট আকৃতির।

৩। কলম এবং বীজ দু’ভাবেই উৎপাদন করা যায় চিয়াং মাই আম গাছের চারা। ভাল ফলন পেতে কলমের চারা রোপণ উৎকৃষ্ট। এতে করে মাতৃগুণ বজায় থাকে।

৪। কলমের চারা উচ্চতায় নয় থেকে বারো ফিট পর্যন্ত লম্বা হয়। আড়াই থেকে তিন বছরের মধ্যে ফল দেয়।

৫। আম দেখতে ব্যানানা বা কলার মত লম্বা হয়। প্রতিটি আমের ওজন গড়ে ৪০০ থেকে ৫০০ গ্রাম পর্যন্ত হয়। তবে অনেক ক্ষেত্রে এই ওজনের তারতম্যও হতে পারে।

৬। আমের ওজন সাধারণত নির্ভর করে গাছের বয়স এবং একটি গাছে কতটি আম ধরেছে তার উপর। একটি গাছে একটি মাত্র আমের ওজন ১৪০০ গ্রাম হওয়ারও নজির পাওয়া যায়।

৭। চিয়াং মাই আম বড় হলে উপরের দিকে লালচে কালার আসে এবং বড় হওয়ার সাথে সাথে লালচে কালারটা আরও গাঢ় হয়।

৮। চিয়াং মাই আম কাঁচা অবস্থায় খেতেও বেশ মিষ্টি।

৯। পাকার পর চিয়াং মাই আম দেখতে খুব সুন্দর হয়, রসালো, সুস্বাদু, খেতে মিষ্টি এবং আঁটি পাতলা হয়।

১০। পরিচর্যার জন্য গাছে নতুন ডগা বা কুশি বের হলে কীটনাশক স্প্রে করে দিতে হয়। ফলে পাতাগুলো আরও মসৃণ ও চকচকে হয়। পোকামাকড়ের আক্রমণ থেকে গাছ রক্ষা পায়।

১১। চিয়াং মাই আম ছাদ বাগানে চাষের জন্য বেশ উপযোগী। টবে গাছ লাগানো পরবর্তী খুঁটি বা সাপোর্ট দিতে হয়না। তবে এক থেক দেড় মাসের মধ্যে গাছের গোড়ায় আলাদা করে খাদ্য দিতে হয়।

১২। বাণিজ্যিক চাষের জন্য উঁচু জমি নির্বাচন করতে হয়। বর্ষা মৌসুমে জমিতে যাতে করে পানি না জমে সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখতে হয়। পানি জমলে তা অতি দ্রুত নিষ্কাশনের ব্যবস্থা করতে হয়।

১৩। চিয়াং মাই আম গাছের চারা রোপণের আগে জমি উর্বর করে নিতে হয় এবং জৈব সার অথবা গোবর সার ছিটিয়ে দিতে হয়।

১৪। চিয়াং মাই আম বাংলাদেশে নতুন জাতের আম হওয়ায় বাজারে চাহিদা বেশী। ফলে দামও বেশী।

Chiang Mai Mango is a completely new variety of mango to our country, originating from Thailand.
The leaves of the Chiang Mai Mango tree are notably large, with each leaf being approximately one foot in size.
Both stem and seedlings of the Chiang Mai Mango tree can be produced, with stem propagation resulting in excellent fruit yield due to maintaining maternal traits.
The stem of the Chiang Mai Mango tree can grow up to nine to twelve feet in height. It starts fruiting within one and a half to three years.
The mangoes resemble a banana or plantain in appearance and weigh on average between 400 to 500 grams each, though there may be variations in weight.
The weight of the mangoes generally depends on the age of the tree and the number of mangoes held by a single tree. It’s possible to find mangoes weighing up to 1400 grams on a single tree.
As the Chiang Mai Mango matures, a red tinge develops on the upper side, which intensifies as the mango grows larger.
Even in its raw state, Chiang Mai Mangoes are quite sweet to taste.
After ripening, Chiang Mai Mangoes become visually attractive, juicy, sweet, and the flesh becomes soft.
For care, when new shoots or buds appear on the tree, it needs to be sprayed with insecticide to protect the leaves from pests. This helps in keeping the leaves shiny and healthy, free from pest attacks.
Chiang Mai Mango trees are suitable for cultivation in rooftop gardens. They do not require any extra support or trellising. However, for the first one and a half to two months after planting, separate fertilization is required.
For commercial cultivation, selecting elevated land is necessary. During the rainy season, measures need to be taken to prevent waterlogging in the soil.
Before planting Chiang Mai Mango seedlings, it’s important to prepare the soil by enriching it with organic or cow dung manure.
